A Scary Thought
Tuesday, May 22, 2007Today I had a kind of scary expeirience. When I came into school everything seem very normal, but then everything changed. Teachers shut all of their blinds and all other windows on doors were cover with black paper. The staff didn't really give us any information but later in the day we got the picture. As we walked to lunch we came into the lobby and all the lights were off. It scared me a bit because we then saw police outside the lobby doors. As we got more infomation we found out there was a man seen with a gun on our soccer field. You probably haven't been to my school or seen my class room but that is right outside our window and is where we go to recess. Files were sent to the police saying many shots were heared in a wooded part of the houses near our school too. Thankfully all are safe but it made me realize that anything can happen.
Here is the mini report so far. Not much has been said about it yet. Fairfax County Parkway and Bradock road was closed off and there were many police, helicopters and news trucks: http://www.nbc4.com/news/13364550/detail.html

Good, Old Times
Friday, May 18, 2007My biggest memory of it is the part with all the sports especially the ping pong and the crowd's eyes moving with the ball. And Ole' King Cole. *You talk to much, you brag to much, you never shut up, you talk to much* (song from the ole' king cole part). This whole post is jumping around a lot but I just keep remembering all these "Good Old Times".

Fun for the Future
Sunday, May 13, 2007On Thursday night I went to a really fun, rising seventh grader's dance at Robinson. I had a lot of fun seeing poeple I knew and jumping up and down to songs I knew. Now before I go on with the story you need to know the inside scoop. I see this guy everywhere. I saw him at all the Thoroughly Modern Millie shows I went to, I saw him at me All-County Chorus Festival, and I saw him at the Robinson orrientation. To tell you the truth I think he is kinda cute. So, since I figured that he was going to Robinson because he was at the orrientation, I looked for him. I suddenly spotted him wearing jeans and a shirt with a popped collar. At once my friends started ebbing me on to go introduce myself. I was kinda nevous but I stepped up to the plate and told him that I saw him everywhere. I asked if he had a sibbling in drama and he said yes. His sister, Chris Capooto (have no idea how to spell it) who was Miss Dorathy in Millie. It such a small world. I told him my sister was Mariah Proctor and smiled and then we sorta departed. Later in the night when the dance ended and everybody was walking out the door I asked what his name was. The mystery boy is Jason Capooto. I also found out that he signed up for drama as well as I did so hopefully we will be friends and he won't think I am a total freak! :-)

Some Guys are Immature
Saturday, May 12, 2007We just barely changed seats in math class and now I sit by two guys who are soooooo annoying. One guy...his name is Patrick...is a math freak and talks to himself when he does problems. The other guy....his name is Jeffery....for some reason loves hurting people or something like that because he kicks me in the shins all through class. ANNOYING or what! Fortunately, there are four people to a tabel and Laura, one of my best friends, sits there. We go through the hardship ( :-) ) together.

singing a song
Sunday, May 6, 2007This past Saturday, I sang in a 932 voice, 6th grader, All-County Chorus. We worked and worked for the concert, spending almost 12 hours singing our hearts out. We were all assigned a seat which meant most of the time, we didn't sit by a friend. The people in front of me and beside me all ignored me, so I felt really rebuked. After two hours of non-stop singing, I wished I wasn't there or that we could just stop. My conductor, Dr. Dean Enstminger, was always optimistic and helped us all get through the day. He taught us all many silent movements and small sounds that we did together that made us all laugh. One of those was directing us to all clamp our teeth at the same time. It was the funniest, clicky noise I have ever heard. He had complete control over the many kids, without being strict. By showing his control, after cutting us off for the fermata rest, he started talking to the audiance. Then after a minute or so. he signaled to us and we sang our last note. He even did the 'teeth thing' at the actual concert. He also directed the wave around the whole gymnasium we were in with all of the parents. This was a great expeirience for me to learn and grow.
Just a side note (hahaha) my songs for the concert were:
- Sing for Joy
- We Are the Young
- Swinging on a Star
- Douglas Mountain (arranged by our director)
- Happy to be Young
- Battle Hymn of the Republic
- A Musical Tapestry
- The Old Dominion
- Shake the Papaya Down (I accumpanied it with the congo along with the other people from my school)
- Shine of Me
